Reflecting back on the #IMBAsummitSF I have come home more knowledgeable and pumped than before. Rather than having talks about trail building methods, the World Summit was more dedicated to the back end; the business of building great riding experiences. We also learned that becoming an IMBA chapter was a great decision and that we can rely on IMBA to take care of many of the day in and day out operations of CAMP.
I also came home with a lot of good ideas about how to further cycling in our area, not just mountain biking. While CAMP and IMBA are mountain biking organization, IMBA focuses on the entire biking experience. Having safe ways to travel to and from trails where you don’t have to get in a car (greenways). What the biker experiences when they get off the bike (bars, bike shops, places to stay, etc.).
Locally we have to find a way to get the two cities of Auburn and Opelika to act and work as one. We need to have more joint projects to further outdoor activity in our area. There NEEDS to be a greenway between Auburn and Opelika (and I might just have a good plan for it). The goal to become a IMBA Ride Center needs to be a big priority. And that “center” isn’t just one location but an entire area of riding. Did you know there are only 7 IMBA Ride Centers in the world. How amazing would it be to have one in Alabama!
The scoring for a Ride Center is broken down into 5 different areas with different total amounts to equal 100 pts. The breakdown is as follows:
So who is with me!
PS Myself and fellow CAMP members Mack and Ria are in the photo. I’m in the green (bamacross) shirt to the left on the stage; Mack and Ria are to the right of me.
A little teaser video I threw together for the upcoming Dirty Tiger Challenge I am helping put on. Check it out.
Also, check out the site! (I did that too)
Really awesome time lapse my buddy Phil did for the Iron Bowl this past weekend. He used multiple GoPros (mine was one of them) to capture all the footage. It took a lot of forethought and planning to get all of these great angles all on one day and he knocked it out of the park. Watch and feel the love of SEC football.
Fun fact of the video, the first two “scenes” are of mine and my friends tailgate.
